Buttery Biscuits

If you've been looking for a buttery, creamy, baking powder biscuit recipe that your family will ask for again and again, you've found it! My husband and kids ask for these biscuits for birthday meals and special occasions. Don't be intimidated by the rolling of the dough. This recipe comes together in about 15 minutes and is worth it. You will be surprised that six simple ingredients create such amazingness.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 cups whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F degrees.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

  3. Using the backside of a large spoon, make a well in the center of your flour mixture.

  4. Add whipping cream to the flour mixture and mix with a fork.

  5. Mix with a fork until just combined.

  6. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead approximately 10 times, folding and turning dough onto itself as you go.

  7. Using your hands or a rolling pin, pat or roll dough into an 8x8 inch square. This doesn't have to be perfect. Focus on making consistent edges so you will have consistently sized biscuits.

  8. Cut dough into 16 squares.

  9. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.  Place biscuits approximately 1 inch apart on the cookie sheet and brush the tops with melted butter.

  10. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, until tops are golden brown. Serve hot. These biscuits taste best when fresh, but can be stored and reheated the next day. Honey and jam are great compliments to these biscuits.
